BaSiliCoat^®

Product description

BaSiliCoat^® is a non-toxic, environmentally adapted antifouling product for surface treatment of leisure boats, vessels and equipment in marine aquaculture. The product protects the treated surface against growth of marine organisms and works equally well in fresh and salt water.

BaSiliCoat^® is based on well-known, environmentally adapted ingredients approved by the Swedish Chemicals Agency. Chalmers University of Technology has tested the product for functionality and impact on the marine environment with very positive results. BaSiliCoat^® is therefore the obvious choice for a non-toxic, environmentally adapted alternative.

Preparation

The surface to be coated must be dry, clean and free from contamination, loose paint residue or dust. Use BaSiliCoat^® Cleaner for best results. To ensure sufficient adhesion on epoxy primer, the surface must be treated with BaSiliCoat^® Primer. Any silicone paint must be removed before treatment. Epoxy paints based on glycid may affect BaSiliCoat^®’s ability to adhere to the surface.

Mixing / Application

Activator: Use 50 ml activator per 1 liter of BaSiliCoat^®.

Mixing: Homogenise the activator by shaking the bottle thoroughly before adding it to the product. Mix activator and BaSiliCoat^® and stir until the product is homogeneous. BaSiliCoat^® separates during storage, so it is essential to mix before use. Pot life after mixing is approximately 12 hours before the product cures.

Application: Apply BaSiliCoat^® with standard paint applicators such as a soft brush, roller or sponge. Work slowly and methodically to prevent loss and dripping. The product is light brown when applied but becomes clear/transparent when in water. Wait at least 12 hours after application before launching in fresh water.

Coverage: One liter of BaSiliCoat^® antifouling covers approximately 12 m².
